VHF
Nouméa Radio maintains a 24-hour listening watch on VHF channel
16, as well as the usual HF frequencies: 2182 khz, 4125 khz, and 6215
khz.
HF/SSB
In addition to voice weather broadcasts and weatherfax, there is at
least one HF net, which takes place at 8:00am (21:00 GMT) on 8161
khz.
Telephone
The pay phones in Nouméa all work on prepaid cards only. Phone
cards may be purchased at Latitude
22 S, vending machines or at news stands.

Nouméa radio broadcasts the weather
report on VHF 16, everyday at 6:30, 9:30, 15:15, 18:30.

Tides
Tides are semi-diurnal. Tidal ranges
around New Caledonia are generally less than 2 meters. Tidal currents
at the reef passes can be quite substantial, however.
Cruising Season
The cruising season is basically the
southern hemisphere winter with early spring (September, October) being
reputed to have the best weather.
Cyclone Season
The weather in New Caledonia stays semi-tropical
all year round.
The Coral Sea cyclone season is between November and May. Average summer
temperature hover between 25-27 degrees Celsius.
Average winter temperatures hover between 20-23 degrees Celsius.
